Jeff Fuchs explorer / author
 

Having lived for much of the past decade in Asia, Fuchs' work has centered on indigenous mountain peoples, Asian traditions, with a particular addictive emphasis on tea.

Jeff 's book (Penguin-Viking Canada), The Ancient Tea Horse Road documents his 6000 km, 7 month journey through the Himalayas along Asia's legendary trade route.

His vibrant photos and stories have appeared in World Geographic, Spanish
Geographical Society, The Earth, Voyage, New Ideas
, Outdoor Exploration , New Traveler, Silkroad Foundation, Outpost
and the China Post newspaper. He is a member of the fabled Explorers Club.

His photograghic work has been most recently featured in 'Camellia Sinensis' French publication "Thè: Histoire Terrior Saveurs"

Jeff's work and life were the focus of a National Chinese television feature documentary "Follow Me" (Tanglong International Media Group), which explored his photographic work including a project in which he lived with and documented a nomadic tribe at 5000 metres in the Himalayas. He and his work with schools have also been featured on CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) television documenting his groundbreaking 'first western exploration' of the entire length of the Tea Horse Road.

Fuchs has recently been awarded a grant from the prestigious Banff Mountain Institute to continue his work in documenting fast disappearing cultures on the Himalyan Plateau. Jeff has worked with schools. universities and geographical societies, giving talks on both the importance of oral traditions and on tea within Asia"

Work has taken him to the Arctic, South America, Asia, Europe and ultimately found him a home in the eastern Himalayas.
